Grant Heart and Surgery Expansion

Challenge:

To create a state-of-the-art surgery center that would accommodate both heart and general surgery volumes. Part of that challenge was to increase capacity by using lean design principals. In addition Trinity was challenged to evaluate and improve work flows of the current operations model.

Outcome:

Trinity was able to increase capacity and improve work flows in this 175,000 sf hospital expansion. The expansion included a new front door for surgery, 20 new OR’s and a new Cardiac Cath/EP floor. The savings recognized from Trinity’s lean design processes allowed the expansion of a 4th floor within the initial budget allocation. This floor houses Cardiac Cath, Electrophysiology and a Cardiovascular Inpatient Unit.
