Kobacker Hospice Facility
Challenge:Trinity was challenged to lead design efforts on a brand new hospice facility at the expanding McConnel Health Campus. Site challenges included the wooded sloping terrain, sound buffering from the adjacent railroad tracks and wetlands that needed to be preserved. Outcome:A 36,200 sf facility on seven acres was planned and designed. This new facility houses 24 new patient rooms, with expansion planned for an additional eight room wing. The design includes a two-story portion which accounts for the changes in site elevation and allows grade access on both levels. The upper floor houses administrative spaces and helps buffer sound from the ground level portions of the facility where the patient rooms are located. The patient rooms and ancillary support spaces are arranged on a skewed quadrangle with secured patios for dementia patients on the courtyard. The patios, courtyard, and meditation garden are complemented by serene landscaping.
