Brodie Bain, FAIA, AICP, LEED AP
Director of Higher Education Planning, Principal
I consider it an honor and privilege to be able to think about the future every day and how to make it better.
Brodie is a national leader in planning for higher education campuses and facilities. Recognized for serving mission-driven clients with place-based solutions that promote social equity and sustainability, she thinks strategically about how to help institutions meet their broader purpose and goals. Brodie weaves open space, connections, and context with building function, placement, and image—all synchronized with physical opportunities and operational constraints. Her comprehensive knowledge of campus planning, capital planning, programming, utilization studies, site planning, pre-designs, and design for the full range of campus building types offers the value of a uniquely comparative perspective. Brodie’s passion to serve users and institutions equally makes her an avid listener; her strategic approach allows her to integrate data and analytics in support of long-term visions. Leading complex groups of stakeholders to consensus, she provides a clear roadmap for decision making well into the future. Brodie actively shares her insights through seminars, presentations, and publications, as well as involvement in professional associations, civic organizations, and academics around the country. She is a member of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), the Advancement for Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), and the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA).
